Media Relations Manager - Crisis Communications
Location: Ridgefield Park, NJ
Schedule: Mon to Thu onsite / Fri remote
Rate: $35.00 - $43.00/hr
Objective:
Media and Public Relations role that is laser focused on anything that calls the Company's reputation in question (different from mobile PR i.e. pitch positives feedback for consumer buying products) - but this is rather covering negativity issues with products, data, sustainability, carbon footprint, etc.
Qualifications and responsibilities:
5 to 7 years' PR experience but open to less if they have strong prior media experience
Experience with Media Relations, Public Relations and Brand Reputation Communications
PR experience covering intangible quality of work, working well under pressure and navigating crisis (i.e. "crisis communications"); cool and calm level-head
Crisis communications experience isn't required but a strong preference and someone who is interested in handling crisis communications / handled this in previous roles
Own, engage, and maintain relationships with the media agents - develop proactive literature build relationships with key reporters
Create PR campaigns with customer service operations
Strategize, pitch, and open-ended stories for set media
Developing and executing proactive pitch media campaigns towards negative and crisis PR
Data management, social media tracking, and media monitoring tools and a big plus
Proactive media relations and media pitching type of role
Reporters they will interface with are Journalists, and will also communicate with Internal Stakeholders
Project Management tool used is Monday.com (not required but nice to have)
Media monitoring tools they use are NewsWhip, Critical Mention, and Muck Rack
Handle new cycle coverage reports
Risk assessments i.e. social influencer assessments
Handle # of inquiries and percentages by limiting the run rate percentage of these stories
Manage campaigns from pitch to full execution i.e. media pitch from 6 Journalists develop and execute campaigns (will do this side-by-side with manager) but will also hold ownership of post-mortem type status and to be able to control one of these projects i.e. risks that impacting tech brands
If there's an upcoming Summit, then create/provide a 15 slide PowerPoint (create, ideate and pull together deck and manage this on their own)
Team interfaces with, including but not limited to: Associated press, Blooper, Washington Post, The Verge, TechRadar, ZDNet, Engadget
